Operation Encompass
Operation Encompass aims to safeguard and support children and young people who have been involved in a domestic abuse incident. As an Operation Encompass school, we will be alerted of any incident the following day.
The Key Adult (usually the DSL) will be notified prior to the start of the next school day that the police have attended an incident of domestic abuse. This timely information sharing enables appropriate support to be provided for that child so that all interactions, from when the child first arrives at the school gates, are of a positive nature.

Prevent
PREVENT is part of the Government’s counter terrorism strategy CONTEST, it aims to stop people becoming terrorists or supporting terrorism. All staff have been trained in PREVENT as vulnerable young people can be susceptible to radicalisation and recruitment into terrorist organisations. As a school we have a duty under the Counter Terrorism and Security Act 2015 (Section 26), to prevent children and young people from being drawn into terrorism.
As a federation, we have a zero tolerance approach to child on child abuse. All staff have been trained in recognising the signs and indicators of child-on-child abuse, and this type of abuse will never be accepted or dismissed as ‘children being children’.
Child on child abuse includes, but is not limited to:
· physical and sexual abuse
· sexual harassment and violence
· emotional harm
· on and offline bullying
· teenage relationship abuse
· grooming children for sexual and criminal exploitation
We are a Support Hub
Bedfordshire Domestic Abuse Partnership (BDAP) Support Hub Scheme promotes certain places in our local communities who can:
· offer a safe space for someone to go to who needs to access support
· offer a safe space for someone to contact a support service to help them safely end an abusive or controlling relationship
A BDAP Support Hub is an area in a public building that enables someone experiencing domestic abuse to be able to make a confidential call, use the internet safely to get help or to just be somewhere safe.
Staff who work in the BDAP Support Hub do not need to be experts in domestic abuse. Just having information about support services displayed and providing a safe environment for someone affected by domestic abuse to make a call or access on-line services, could make a big difference.
